What’s your role at Just Support?
I’m a support worker who will spend my days creating warm, safe spaces for people to explore their interests, build confidence, and feel genuinely heard. I’ll be slowing down, tuning in, and meeting people where they’re at, whether that means trying a new activity, developing routines, or simply having a good chat. And if there’s an opportunity, I’ll also love to organise small group activities where people can connect, learn together, and have fun.
What inspired you to become a support worker?
In my previous community work, I learned how meaningful it is when someone feels truly seen. I’ve worked with people of all backgrounds, and I realised that support work is where my strengths naturally shine, listening with patience, building trust, and walking alongside people as they rediscover their strengths. That sense of connection is what inspired me to choose this path.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
I love seeing small changes in everyday moments. When someone feels proud of themselves, when their confidence slowly grows, or when they realise they’re not alone. Being part of these moments means a lot to me, and it reminds me why this work matters.
What are your interests and hobbies outside of work?
Outside of work, I’m really into climbing, camping, and reading, especially fan fiction and different kinds of sci-fi novels.
Do you have a hidden talent or fun fact?
A fun fact about me is that I’ve completed a 150-metre multipitch climb in the Blue Mountains! It’s one of my favourite achievements so far.
And another one is, I don’t really know how to swim!

I’m the Chief Quest Master around here, which means I get the awesome job of guiding our team and participants through incredible adventures in support and personal growth. I plot the course, steer the ship, and sometimes fight off dragons (metaphorically speaking).
Hi there! I’m Vanessa, and I’ve been enriching lives here as a support worker for over a year now. I specialize in supporting children and young people, focusing on academic studies, social skills, and active community participation. The best part? Our team’s wonderfully queer-friendly and nerdy vibe—it really makes Just Support feel like home.
