What’s your role at Just Support?
I’m a support worker who loves helping young people, whether that be teens or adults! I enjoy getting crafty, or a dramatic D&D session, but I also love helping people achieve the ‘boring stuff’ on their to-do list; whether that be grocery shopping, going to appointments, or cleaning up.
What inspired you to become a support worker?
Due to my own experiences with disability, and my experience within differing health sectors, I know that having a good support worker, who is passionate about helping you is essential. Therefore, as someone who loves to help people, and create positive experiences, support work seemed like an ideal role for me! Having the ability to make a positive difference in someone’s life is what inspires me.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
I love when someone feels comfortable enough to share something they’re passionate about with me. For me, there’s nothing better than listening to an impassioned rant on something I might not even know about. I know that if you feel safe enough to share your passions, I’m supporting you well!
What are your interests and hobbies outside of work?
If I’m not snuggling with my cat, I love reading, writing, crochet, sewing, tending to my plants, or playing Stardew Valley. I do also enjoy a bit of TTRPG from time-to-time too!
Do you have a hidden talent or fun fact?
I have been to six different countries (excluding Australia): Fiji, China, the USA, Peru, Vietnam and Cambodia. Despite this, I am unfortunately only fluent in English, but I can speak, read and write a bit of Mandarin, as I studied it for six years!

I’m the Chief Quest Master around here, which means I get the awesome job of guiding our team and participants through incredible adventures in support and personal growth. I plot the course, steer the ship, and sometimes fight off dragons (metaphorically speaking).
Hi there! I’m Vanessa, and I’ve been enriching lives here as a support worker for over a year now. I specialize in supporting children and young people, focusing on academic studies, social skills, and active community participation. The best part? Our team’s wonderfully queer-friendly and nerdy vibe—it really makes Just Support feel like home.
