What’s your role at Just Support?
Hi, I’m Kym, and I’m a support worker at Just Support. I love supporting people to explore their interests and build confidence. I’m a patient listener who’s always curious about people, and I enjoy connecting through hobbies, games, spending time outdoors, and creating a space where people feel comfortable being themselves. Every person is unique, and I think that’s the best part of the job.
What inspired you to become a support worker?
Training as a divemaster encouraged me to support people and help them feel safe and confident. Studying social work then motivated me to enter this field, where I could get to know people and support them in ways that matter to them. Seeing how much patience and genuine support can make even a small difference inspired me to become a support worker.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
Getting to know people and discovering what makes them light up, exploring new interests together, and celebrating the little wins along the way.
What are your interests and hobbies outside of work?
Gardening, video games, Chinese calligraphy, swimming, scuba diving, and anything involving water or nature! Big animal lover, especially my cat – I love every moment with him 🙂
Do you have a hidden talent or fun fact?
I once got so obsessed with trying to become dancer of the week for “Bad Romance” on Just Dance that I ended up hurting my lower back.
I’ve also been attacked by a triggerfish during a Fish ID dive.

I’m the Chief Quest Master around here, which means I get the awesome job of guiding our team and participants through incredible adventures in support and personal growth. I plot the course, steer the ship, and sometimes fight off dragons (metaphorically speaking).
Hi there! I’m Vanessa, and I’ve been enriching lives here as a support worker for over a year now. I specialize in supporting children and young people, focusing on academic studies, social skills, and active community participation. The best part? Our team’s wonderfully queer-friendly and nerdy vibe—it really makes Just Support feel like home.
