What’s your role at Just Support?
Howdy there friends, I’m Paul! I’m a support worker and a problem solver. I am here to translate science, psychology, and evidence into usable tools and work with you to customise them to your goals. Your personal touch is the most important part of your journey – it’s your quest and your approach. Think of me as your sword valet!
What inspired you to become a support worker?
The gulf between a clinician’s (doctor, psychologist, etc.) advice and the implementation of that advice in the real world is huge. There’s lots of speedbumps and hurdles that can get in the way. I wanted to help bridge that gap for two reasons: one, to help people; and two, to understand what happens for people when they leave the clinician’s office and must figure out how to slay a dragon.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
Empowerment is the name of the game. I love seeing people grow in capability and confidence, but what’s even better is seeing them recognise in themselves that they have unlocked new abilities and the world has opened up a little more and become a little less daunting.
What are your interests and hobbies outside of work?
I am quite into miniature painting; I relish the challenge of trying to make something small look big and the problem-solving inherent to working with colour at small scales. I love indoor bouldering and have been doing it for over ten years – now, you might expect me to be good at it but think again!
In my spare time I also enjoy having my personal space invaded by my cat.
Do you have a hidden talent or fun fact?
I’ve hiked to Mt Everest Base Camp – it was quite cool (well, cold actually, haw haw!), yep, I’ll let myself out…

I’m the Chief Quest Master around here, which means I get the awesome job of guiding our team and participants through incredible adventures in support and personal growth. I plot the course, steer the ship, and sometimes fight off dragons (metaphorically speaking).
Hi there! I’m Vanessa, and I’ve been enriching lives here as a support worker for over a year now.
