What’s your role at Just Support?
I’m a support worker who helps people level up in real life. Most days you’ll find me helping someone build confidence, learn new skills, or find their own version of independence. I take a relaxed, person-first approach, lots of laughs, real conversations, and a good dose of patience.
I love working with teens and young adults, especially those who think a little differently. Whether we’re talking about gaming, pop culture, or life goals, I try to make our time together feel less like “support” and more like teaming up on a quest. Every person has their own storyline, and I’m here to help them unlock their next chapter.
What inspired you to become a support worker?
I’ve always been someone who cares deeply about people. From a young age I found happiness in helping others and seeing them do well. I’m a compassionate and caring person who believes everyone deserves equal opportunities and the chance to live a good life in their own way.
What really drives me is seeing people find their own version of success. It could be reaching a goal, learning a new skill, or just feeling proud of themselves. I love being part of that journey and knowing I helped make a difference, even in small ways. Helping people grow and feel confident is what keeps me going.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
I love the people and the real moments we share. Seeing someone gain confidence or try something new is always the best part. I enjoy the laughs, the chats, and watching small wins turn into big ones. Every day is different, and that keeps it real and rewarding.
What are your interests and hobbies outside of work?
I’m into movies, cartoons, and gaming, but I also love getting outdoors. Bush walks, beach days, live music, and catching up with friends are all part of my week. I spend a lot of time drawing and getting creative with art when I want to unwind. I’ve got a big goofy dog named Marley and a sassy cat called Jinkx who both keep life interesting. I love being in nature, bird watching or exploring new spots, and I never say no to a good board game or card night.
Do you have a hidden talent or fun fact?
I can quote way too many lines from old cartoons and movies, and I know way too many song lyrics and random bits of music trivia. I’m convinced that counts as a life skill.

I’m the Chief Quest Master around here, which means I get the awesome job of guiding our team and participants through incredible adventures in support and personal growth. I plot the course, steer the ship, and sometimes fight off dragons (metaphorically speaking).
Hi there! I’m Vanessa, and I’ve been enriching lives here as a support worker for over a year now. I specialize in supporting children and young people, focusing on academic studies, social skills, and active community participation. The best part? Our team’s wonderfully queer-friendly and nerdy vibe—it really makes Just Support feel like home.
