What’s your role at Just Support?
What inspired you to become a support worker?
It was watching my mother work in the disability sector when I was a child, and meeting so many amazing people she worked with that inspired me to get into it myself, being able to help give people the best quality of life and learning new and amazing things and just being able to have fun along the way, I have always loved helping people and believe that it is my purpose in life and what I am here for.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
I love watching people come out of their shells and be unapologetically themselves. Knowing i help them live meaningful lives and watching them achieve all their goals makes my heart happy.
What are your interests and hobbies outside of work?
I love motorbikes, Any and all animals, Music and concerts and anything artsy crafty. One piece – Anime and old cartoons, Invader Zim (GIR!) Conventions like supernova and comic con. Anything spooky/ dark/ Halloween and ghost related.
Do you have a hidden talent or fun fact?
I used to be the lead vocalist in a band when I was younger – I can sing, play piano and used to write my own lyrics/songs.
I also know how to fire twirl!

I’m the Chief Quest Master around here, which means I get the awesome job of guiding our team and participants through incredible adventures in support and personal growth. I plot the course, steer the ship, and sometimes fight off dragons (metaphorically speaking).
Hi there! I’m Vanessa, and I’ve been enriching lives here as a support worker for over a year now. I specialize in supporting children and young people, focusing on academic studies, social skills, and active community participation. The best part? Our team’s wonderfully queer-friendly and nerdy vibe—it really makes Just Support feel like home.
