Gothic horror, sword-swinging mayhem, and a kobold named Meepo
Our adventurers have entered the Mists… and there’s no turning back.
Led by their Dungeon Master, the brave souls in our Curse of Strahd campaign have begun their descent into darkness. What started as a tavern scuffle quickly spiralled into undead chaos, mysterious shadow-wolves, and a lot of suspicious mushrooms. As always, this isn’t just a game—it’s a team-building, imagination-firing, snack-fuelled journey into the unknown.
Session One: Trolls, Taverns, and Trouble
The story began in the infamous Yawning Portal tavern, where our soon-to-be party were just minding their business. A boastful half-orc was looking for a fight, and no one seemed particularly interested—until a bell rang, a rope snapped, and all hell broke loose.
Mosquito-like creatures flew out of the well, followed by a full-on troll, and the group was suddenly in the middle of a full-scale tavern brawl. Injuries stacked up until a man with a massive weapon stepped in to help—it turned out to be none other than Durnan, the tavern’s owner, who offered them a mission far to the north.
After some shopping and a quick encounter with the half-orc again (still drunk, still itching for a fight), the group began their journey. Along the way, they spotted a shadowy dire wolf who trailed ahead of them and even scared off a pack of red-eyed wolves.
Eventually, they reached the town of Oakhurst, where Mayor Vurnor Leng told them about strange goings-on and a place called the Sunless Citadel. Following the river, they found it frozen over—despite the warm weather—and descended hundreds of feet into the canyon.
There, they met kobolds, giant rats, and something far more ominous.
Session Two: Fire, Grief, and Goblins
After wiping out some cavern enemies, the party met a new companion: a Fire Genasi fighter, always drunk but full of potential.
They passed through a chamber full of dead goblins before finding a crying kobold named Meepo, mourning his lost wyrmling companion. The party welcomed Meepo along, forming an unlikely alliance to avenge the tiny dragon’s death.
They met Yusdrayl, leader of the kobolds, who told them the goblins had been causing havoc—but their prisoners had revealed nothing. The group pressed on, heading deeper into enemy territory.
Session Three: Goblins, Shadows, and Strange Symbols
Descending further, the adventurers encountered more goblins, dealt with them quickly, and discovered a mysterious crack in the ground, shallow but unsettling. Opting to leave it for now, they explored deeper into the ruins.
Highlights included:
- Goblins in odd poses doing weirder things (no questions, please)
- A surprisingly peaceful bugbear tending to glowing mushrooms
- A statue of a red dragon, guarded by a shadow creature
- A room of burnt mushrooms and some very unsettling smells
Now, the party is trying to decide which path to take next—and if they’re ready for what’s coming.
🃏 The Cards Have Been Drawn…
At the heart of this tale lies the curse of Strahd von Zarovich, and the cards drawn by Madam Eva have already shaped the party’s fate.
- A cursed book, soaked in the truth of the devil’s soul, hidden in a place once filled with kindness
- A sacred symbol, held in a house of shame, where light has faded and a noble heart has grown cold
- A blade, reforged in vengeance and held by a wounded elf whose dreams are twisted by pain
- A bride, touched by evil
- And a beast, sitting on a dark throne, waiting
The path forward will not be easy. The mists are thick. The castle looms. And the cards never lie.
