Tales from the Yawning Portal: Dungeon Crawling and Dragon Trouble

Something’s stirring beneath The Guild Hall, and we’re not just talking about the BBQ.

Our fortnightly 18+ D&D group, Tales from the Yawning Portal, has officially descended into chaos (the fun kind). With DM Charles behind the screen, our adventurers have been deep-diving into the Sunless Citadel, battling monsters, making strange alliances, and getting closer to unravelling a dark secret buried in the ruins.

Let’s get you caught up.

Meet the Party

  • Sherman the barbarian (not afraid to smash things)
  • Rayla the sorcerer (watch those fire spells)
  • Joan the druid (probably has a mushroom in their pocket)
  • Seth Kin the rogue (definitely hiding something)

Together, they’ve pushed into the heart of the dungeon with nothing but their wits, weapons, and the occasional lunch break.

What’s Happened So Far?

The team kicked things off by exploring a sealed tomb where they accidentally woke up the undead remains of a failed dragon priest. Bit of a whoops, but they handled it and walked away with some spooky dragon loot.

Next came Meepo, a jumpy kobold with big feelings about a missing baby white dragon named Calcryx. Meepo brought the group to his leader, Yusdrayl, who offered a reward if they could recover the dragon from a goblin gang. So, naturally, they said yes—and now we’ve got a party of adventurers working with kobolds, which is as hilarious as it sounds.

They’ve since been bashing their way through goblin territory—dodging traps, fighting guards, and piecing together clues about Belak, a mysterious druid who might be behind the rot infecting the place.

Their latest feat? Clearing out a goblin lair that had been turned into a rat den—complete with a giant, diseased rat and a whole swarm of smaller ones. The goblins had been feeding the beast, and it’s becoming clear that something very wrong is growing in the dark.

What’s Next?

The deeper they go, the stranger it gets. With signs pointing to Belak, ancient corruption, and a missing dragon still somewhere out there, our heroes have their work cut out for them.

But with sharp swords, sharper wits, and a weekly sausage sizzle to keep morale high, we’re confident they’re up for the challenge.

📅 Tales from the Yawning Portal runs every second Tuesday at The Guild Hall. It’s perfect for NDIS participants aged 18+ who love a bit of adventure, teamwork, and puzzle solving—with a side of BBQ and skill building.

Next stop: more goblins, more chaos, and maybe… a dragon.
