What’s your role at Just Support?
I wear a few different hats at Just Support—Office Admin, Support Scheduler, Event Coordinator, and all-round GOFER. Whether it’s organising events, streamlining the schedule, or being the go-to for random tasks, I love helping to keep things running smoothly behind the scenes.
What inspired you to become a support worker?
My number one motivation is my own son, who was diagnosed as being on the autism spectrum at 3.5 years old. Along the way, he has experienced many challenges in a world not built for him, along with further diagnoses. I want to be part of building a better community for all our kids, one built on compassion, support, and understanding.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
Taking what can feel like administrative chaos and turning it into something streamlined and efficient is something I genuinely enjoy. There’s something incredibly satisfying about making things work better for everyone. I love helping to grow Just Support one event at a time—and with it, our own vibrant community. 😊
What are your interests and hobbies outside of work?
Over the past five years, I’ve developed a deep love for TTRPGs. I also enjoy console gaming, all forms of art, and crafting just about anything. When we get the chance, my family and I love to travel and explore new places together.
Do you have a hidden talent or fun fact?
I collect—a lot. As someone with ADHD, my collections are both vast and niche! I have Japanese dolls, vintage cookie jars, salt and pepper shakers, lunchboxes, and even taxidermy insects and arachnids. We once had a pet scorpion who gave birth to so many babies—it was amazing to witness! I also love exploring forests, photographing teeny tiny mushrooms, and admiring interesting textures like moss and lichen.

I’m the Chief Quest Master around here, which means I get the awesome job of guiding our team and participants through incredible adventures in support and personal growth. I plot the course, steer the ship, and sometimes fight off dragons (metaphorically speaking).
Hi there! I’m Vanessa, and I’ve been enriching lives here as a support worker for over a year now.
