What’s It About?

In King of Tokyo, you take control of a massive monster, robot, or alien, all competing to be the ultimate ruler of Tokyo. Players roll dice to attack, heal, gain energy, or score points, all while deciding whether to hold the city or retreat for safety. The first player to reach 20 points or be the last monster standing wins!

How Do You Play?

Each turn, you roll six dice up to three times, choosing which results to keep. Dice allow you to:

  • Attack: Smash opponents to force them out of Tokyo!
  • Heal: Regenerate health to stay in the fight.
  • Gain Energy: Collect energy cubes to buy awesome power-up cards (like laser eyes or extra heads).
  • Score Points: Earn points for staying in Tokyo or rolling the right combos.

Hold Tokyo for as long as you dare, but beware—when you’re inside, you can’t heal! Will you push your luck, or will you retreat before it’s too late?

Why We Love It

We love King of Tokyo because it’s fast, fun, and packed with surprises. The dice-rolling keeps things unpredictable, the power-up cards add crazy abilities, and every game feels like an epic monster movie showdown. Smash, heal, or strategise—no two games are the same!

Capacity Building & NDIS Progress

Beneath the monster-sized fun, King of Tokyo is great for skill-building and aligns with NDIS goals:

  • Decision-Making & Risk Assessment: Players must weigh their options, decide when to fight or retreat, and adapt strategies on the fly.
  • Turn-Taking & Social Skills: The game is interactive, promoting engagement, patience, and communication.
  • Math & Probability Skills: Players must calculate risks, understand dice outcomes, and plan based on probabilities.
  • Emotional Regulation: Losing health, getting knocked out, or missing the perfect dice roll can be frustrating! This game helps players handle setbacks in a positive way.

With its engaging gameplay, social interaction, and skill-building elements, King of Tokyo is a fantastic, NDIS-friendly way to build confidence, encourage decision-making, and develop strategic thinking—all while having a blast!
